EXPLORE
Stairs
The house has its own separate entrance at street level. The ample, airy stairways made from hand-cut Maltese stone, leads to the living area. The white washed walls are lined with wood cut prints of Maltese costumes, scenes and objects collected over time.
The element of surprise, that is always present in baroque architecture, is given a new twist with a large glass lightbox – “Bellezza Pura” – a Maltese lady in noble costume being adorned with a Maltese cross by two cherubs. It is a refined commissioned work of art, that gives a sense of unity to the living area.
Bedroom
The bedroom at Valletta Nobile reflects the baroque festive spirit of La Vallette. It is an intimate space and beautifully appointed. It has a unique layout with a walk-in wardrobe and baroque colour pallette inspired by the Maltese painter Giuseppe Cali – who decorated most of the important churches in Malta.
A floor-to-ceiling original art gives homage to this great 18th century painter depicting Maltese nobility in a playful mood.
A beautiful damask curtain adorns the headboard – styled in a Maltese festive fashion, with colourful tassels and crystal drops.
Balcony Lounge
The Maltese balcony has been ingeniously redesigned with a comfortable upholstered seating area, perfect for a lazy hour with a novel or a place where you can enjoy a pre-dinner drink, breakfast or some Maltese ‘pastizzi’.A peep through the many small windows of the balcony will give you a glimpse of the slow city life and the baroque skyline of the surrounding area. It is also an ideal place to experience church festas on special occasions.
Living Room, Dining + Kitchenette
Exquisitely unique, baroque hints, British influences, bold decor, elegant and luxurious. The living room on the second floor is no ordinary place – capturing the sounds of the city life in Valletta, from the 17th century church bells to the 18th century horse drawn Victoria Carriages which still run the streets.
The living room is a marriage of traditional Maltese style and contemporary design. The rose pink walls are set off by the deep red sheen of the floor. The room is finished to a high standard with valuable French gilded baroque sofa upholstered in damask fabric. Interesting objects d’art like the Maltese ‘Festa’ hand painted wall decoration and curated pictures, evoke the feeling of the nobility and splendour of this historic townhouse.
In spite of the room’s baroque sentiments, the living room is equipped with a large LCD television, DVD and iPod with sound dock. The selection of DVDs provide an interesting insight into Academy Award winning movies shot in Malta.
The kitchen at Valletta Nobile is a true design experience. The marble top bench is contrasted by the gilded mirror right above.
A stir from traditional conventions. At first glace the kitchen appears to be a ‘vanity unit’. A closer look shows electric hob with touch control, fine porcelain Royal Doulton plates with 24k gold and platinum trims.
The kitchen allows you to enjoy the comfort of a luxury hotel with the convenience of your very own stylish self catering accommodation. The well equipped kitchen allows you to prepare and enjoy local Maltese dishes. The old market place is just a few metres away.
Bathroom
Understated yet bold, the bathroom at Valletta Nobile provides an intimate space for pampering, just a few steps away from the bedroom.
The large overhead rain shower is like a little personal oasis. Splash out and refresh.
